NPP holds National Delegates Conference today

The New Patriotic Party (NPP) is holding its National Delegates Conference today, Saturday, July 19, at the University of Ghana Stadium in Accra.

Over 5,500 delegates from across the country are expected to attend the event, which comes as the party looks to regroup and chart a new path following its loss in the 2024 general elections.

The conference is being held under the theme “Rebuilding Together with Our Values,” reflecting a focus on party unity, reflection, and a return to core principles.

Speaking to Channel One News, Planning Committee Chairman Joseph Osei Owusu said the gathering will deliberate and vote on more than 50 key motions. These motions come after a detailed review of over 300 proposed amendments submitted to the party’s Amendments Committee.

“In all, we have a little over 50 motions. One amendment may contain multiple proposals, so what we’ve done is consolidate them into broader motions for delegates to vote on,” he explained.

Osei Owusu also mentioned that all motions have been compiled into a booklet, which has already been reviewed by the party’s National Executive Committee. Copies will be shared with delegates before voting begins.

He added, “All of the motions will be considered. We believe that by 4 PM we should be done.”

The outcomes of today’s conference are expected to influence both constitutional reforms and the NPP’s broader strategic direction as it prepares for the next electoral cycle.
