Born in 1925, 100-year-old Alexander Kofi Koranteng, a former military man and active member of the Men’s Fellowship at the Presbyterian Church of Ghana, Christ Congregation in Akropong, is defying age with remarkable strength and vitality.

Affectionately known as ‘Papa Soldier,’ Mr. Koranteng served in the Ghana Army for 12 years before voluntarily retiring due to an eye defect.
Despite his age, he continues to pound fufu and stir banku with the energy of someone decades younger.

Astonishingly, he still walks from Akropong to Mamfe in just minutes and carries out daily tasks such as cooking and washing all by himself.

Sharing the secret to his longevity and strength, he credits the grace of God, abstaining from meat, regular exercise, and avoiding alcohol and womanising.
