Ghanaian music duo, DopeNation have revealed they faced penalties from their former label, Lynx Entertainment, for recording a verse for Mr. Drew’s hit song,’Dwe’ which later became a major success.
During their appearance on 3Music Culture Vibe, DopeNation shared that the label saw their external collaboration as a breach, resulting in penalties that strained their relationship.
DopeNation expressed frustration, noting that their efforts helped elevate the song’s success, yet they were disciplined for stepping outside the label’s boundaries.
Dope Nation, known for hits like Zanku and Gbohe, were signed to Lynx Entertainment for roughly nine months to a year before parting ways.
The duo highlighted that their time at the label was marked by tensions, including restrictions on external collaborations. They cited the Mr. Drew project as an example of their creative contributions being undervalued, which contributed to their decision to leave the label.
