Ghanaian Highlife musician, Kofi Nti, shed tears as he confirmed the passing of celebrated Highlife legend, Charles Kwadwo Fosu, popularly known as Daddy Lumba ,a man he described as his mentor.
In an exclusive interview with Ghana Weekend on Saturday July 26, Nti, a close associate of the late icon, revealed that he is currently in the United States and began receiving calls early Saturday morning about the heartbreaking news.
In an attempt to verify what seemed unbelievable, he reached out to some of Daddy Lumba’s closest confidants. After failing to get through to the first person, he contacted another close associate named ET Akunnor.
According to Nti, ET Akunnor reminded him of a statement Daddy Lumba once made: “When you hear of my passing, don’t shed a tear.”
That moment, Nti said, confirmed to him that the legend was truly gone.
Reports indicate that Daddy Lumba passed away at the Bank Hospital in Accra at dawn on Saturday, July 26, 2025.
He had been admitted to the facility for an undisclosed medical condition.
Meanwhile, in a confirmation statement issued by DL FM on Saturday, July 26, 2025, the family has requested privacy as they navigate this painful loss.
