The Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) has successfully converted a fuel-powered Toyota Corolla into a fully functional electric vehicle.
The car, which was originally part of the Vice-Chancellor’s office fleet, was unveiled during the launch of the maiden TekAlumni Homecoming 2025.
The project is being hailed as a significant milestone in the university’s commitment to innovation, sustainability, and practical research in science and engineering.
Officials say the successful conversion demonstrates the potential for developing homegrown solutions to reduce carbon emissions and promote green technology in Ghana’s transport sector.
