Gideon Aryee-Quaye, Executive Secretary of the Creative Arts Agency, has announced plans to institute an annual concert in honour of the late highlife legend Daddy Lumba.
He said this during a conversation with Ekow Koomson on The Chat, during the National Candlelight Vigil Ceremony at Independence Square.
The initiative aims not only to celebrate Daddy Lumba’s enduring legacy but also to recognise other creative legends while they are still alive.
“Daddy Lumba’s music has touched so many lives across generations. His legacy deserves to be honoured every year. But more importantly, we must celebrate our legends while they are still with us,” he said.
The annual event, he explained, will gather fans, artistes, and key industry players to reflect on the impact of Ghanaian music and honour those who helped shape it.
His comments come at a time when the nation continues to mourn the passing of Daddy Lumba, with tributes pouring in from across the world. The vigil at Independence Square drew thousands, reflecting the massive influence and deep connection the artist had with Ghanaians.
