President John Dramani Mahama has announced the establishment of an Investigative Board of Inquiry to determine the cause of the tragic military helicopter crash that occurred on Wednesday, August 6, at Adansi Akrofuom in the Ashanti Region.

The crash claimed the lives of eight Ghanaians, including two Cabinet Ministers, three Ghana Air Force personnel, and other high-ranking government officials.

In a national address on August 7, President Mahama said the Ghana Armed Forces had launched a full and transparent investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident.

“The flight data and cockpit voice recorders have been retrieved,” he disclosed, adding that the Investigative Board will work to uncover the exact cause of the tragedy.

“This is a moment of national grief, but also a moment for accountability.”

The bodies of all eight victims have also been recovered, and the government is currently in close contact with the bereaved families regarding identification and funeral arrangements.

The president also urged the public to refrain from speculation, noting that the investigation will be thorough and credible.

“This is not a time for political point-scoring,” he emphasized. “It is a time for unity, empathy, and strength.”
