Gerald Annan-Forson, celebrated photojournalist and brother of renowned broadcaster, Tommy Annan-Forson, has died at the age of 78.

News of his passing, which occurred on August 4, 2025, was confirmed through an obituary shared on Facebook.

With a career spanning several decades, Annan-Forson was widely regarded as one of Ghana’s most accomplished lensmen. He lectured in photography at the Ghana Institute of Journalism (now the University of Media, Arts and Communication – UNIMAC-GIJ) and the National Film and Television Institute (NAFTI), shaping generations of media professionals.

A founding member of the Ghana Union of Professional Photographers (GUPP), his work earned both national and international recognition. In 1980, his photographic coverage of Ghana’s 1979 transition to democracy was exhibited at the Ghana Arts Council in Accra. A decade later, he curated a landmark photography exhibition at the Ghana International Trade Fair.

Announcing his death, colleagues and former students have paid tribute to his artistry, mentorship, and lasting contribution to Ghana’s visual storytelling.
