Things to know and do in Cold Seasons

When the weather turns cold, sunsets come earlier, and the air feels drier, our bodies and routines often take a hit.  From colds and coughs to seasonal fatigue, this period can be both physically and emotionally draining.

Here are some important things to know—and do—to stay healthy and cozy:

1. Strengthen Your Immunity
The cold season often comes with a surge in flu and respiratory infections. Eating vitamin-rich foods such as oranges, leafy greens, and ginger can help strengthen your immune system. Warm soups and herbal teas are also great allies. Do well to consume foods that are warm as well.

2. Stay Warm and Layer Up
Cold air weakens the body’s resistance to infections. Dress in layers, wear socks indoors, and don’t hesitate to keep a scarf handy. Staying warm is the first line of defense against seasonal colds. This may distort your outfit inspo but you gotta stay healthy!

3. Keep Hydrated
It’s easy to forget water when you’re not sweating, but hydration keeps your throat moist and helps flush out toxins. Warm water or teas can also soothe cough and nasal congestion. Drink enough water-8 glasses of water daily at least.

4. Mind Your Mental Health
Less sunlight means less vitamin D, which can affect mood and energy. If you feel sluggish, step outside during the day for some natural light, even if it’s brief. Listening to uplifting music or exercising indoors can also help.

5. Rest and Recover
Colds and coughs spread faster when your body is run down. Prioritise sleep, manage stress, and don’t ignore early symptoms. Sometimes the best remedy is simply rest.

Cold seasons can be tough, but with the right care and habits, you can stay healthy, active, and mentally refreshed.
