Irate supporters of dancehall artist Charles Nii Armah, popularly known as Shatta Wale, have threatened to deface the offices of the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) with faeces if authorities fail to release the musician from custody by the end of Thursday, August 21
The protest erupted on August 21, 2025, when scores of fans stormed EOCO’s headquarters demanding the immediate release of Shatta Wale is currently being held under strict bail conditions following his detention over alleged tax compliance issues.
EOCO officials confirmed that while bail of GH₵10 million with two sureties has been granted, his freedom is contingent upon meeting all legal requirements.
Providing an update, Shatta Wale’s media manager, Samuel Atuobi Baah, popularly known as Sammy Flex, explained in a video message that both the artist’s legal team and management are working to satisfy the bail terms.
“Before proceeding with the case, EOCO has set a bail of ten million Ghana cedis (GH₵10 million) with two sureties. I assure you, the dancehall king’s management and legal team are working tirelessly to resolve this,” Sammy Flex stated.
He further clarified that the probe has been misrepresented in public discussions. According to him, EOCO’s focus is specifically on taxes related to Shatta Wale’s yellow Lamborghini and aspects of his business operations, and not other allegations circulating on social media.
Shatta Wale was taken into custody on Wednesday, August 20, 2025, as part of EOCO’s ongoing investigations. His detention has ignited outrage among his fan base, who insist they will not relent until he is released.
“If they don’t release him, we will surround the whole place and throw faeces at everyone. We will damage the whole place with faeces for them to see that we are serious. We will change EOCO to shit OCO,” some of the protestors warned.
