The much-anticipated She Rhythms Festival officially kicked off with a vibrant launch event held at Alliance Française, Accra, marking the nation’s first-ever all-female music festival.

This groundbreaking festival is a collaboration between MUSIGA and Alliance Française Accra, powered by RAM Media, aimed at empowering women in the music industry.

The launch began with a warm welcome address from the Chairperson, Nana Adwoa Awindor, who highlighted the vision of She Rhythms as a platform to celebrate and amplify the voices of female musicians.

MUSIGA President Bessa Simons followed with an inspiring speech emphasising the need for equal recognition and opportunities for women in music.

The atmosphere was electrified by a series of powerful performances. Gospel sensation Celestine Donkor delivered a spirit-moving set that captivated the audience, while Aklerh brought groovy, high-energy dancehall vibes to the stage.

Rising star Maya Blu mesmerised attendees with her dynamic and soulful performance. Meanwhile the youthful DJ Nyce proved that women can DJ as well as the best.

International flavour was added by American artist Kim Poole, known for her soulful fusion style, and Lady PJ was on point with the effervescent Efya, the official face of She Rhythms Festival climaxing the performances with her verve and artistry.

Alliance Française’s Accra Marketing Manager expressed strong support for the festival as a cultural milestone, while key industry figures including Jones Nelson, Director of Public Private Partnerships at GTA; Edwina Assan, General Secretary of GCF; Bernice Dei Kumah, Executive Director of NFB; and Robert Blah of Charterhouse shared encouraging remarks on the impact of this initiative.

The launch also featured a captivating traditional performance by Amamre, celebrating Ghanaian heritage and culture. A delightful cake-cutting ceremony marked the official commencement of the festival, symbolising the sweet beginning of this transformative musical journey.

Among the distinguished guests present were Prof. Esi Sutherland Addy, former MUSIGA President Diana Hopeson, media personality Black Coffee, Dr. Samantha Ama Hollingworth, and several MUSIGA executives. The event concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Abena Ruthy, 2nd Vice President of MUSIGA and head of the Union’s Gender Desk, who reiterated the commitment to championing gender equity in the music industry.
MC for the night was Hitz FM’s Doreen Avio.

She Rhythms Festival promises to be a landmark event celebrating female artistry, resilience, and creative excellence. The three-day festival from December 4 to 6, 2025 at Alliance Française will feature performances, collaborations, and mentorship opportunities dedicated to amplifying women’s voices in music.

The festival is powered by Ram Media Concepts.
