Founder of The Academic Woman Foundation, Dr. Anatu Mahama, has underscored the importance of collaboration between women and men in driving gender equity and sustainable development.

She was speaking at the She Builds Conference organised by her Foundation held in Accra on Wednesday, September 10.

“Why do we need our male allies? Because we are building an inclusive world for the future generation — for our girls and boys — to provide equal opportunities. It is a shared responsibility, and we must do this with our men,” Dr Mahama  said.

She also noted that the foundation’s mission goes beyond celebrating success stories to actively dismantling barriers faced by women across different fields.

“Today, The Academic Woman Foundation does not only spotlight success, we amplify women’s voices. We confront the barriers that exist across borders and generations, and we work alongside our male allies,” Dr Mahama said.

She further described the conference theme, ‘She Knows,’ as more than a slogan.

“She Knows is not just a title, it is a declaration. It affirms women’s power to shape economies, transform communities, and reimagine the future,” she declared.

The conference, organised by The Academic Woman Foundation, brought together women leaders, policymakers, entrepreneurs, academics, and media professionals to discuss women’s participation in entrepreneurship, law, the built environment, and engineering.
