Nigerian celebrity chef Hilda Baci is once again aiming for the record books—this time, with a bold attempt to cook the world’s largest pot of jollof rice.
Guinness World Records earlier left a message of encouragement on Hilda’s social media, saying, “Best of luck Hilda and team!”
This new record chase comes after Baci’s globally celebrated feat in 2023, when she set a new benchmark for the longest cooking marathon. Now, she plans to cook a staggering 250 bags of rice in one massive pot—making it a jollof spectacle like no other.
In the lead-up to the event, a touching moment was captured as Hilda and her mother joined hands in prayer, asking for strength and success. The emotional scene resonated with many, as her mother has been widely seen as a key pillar in her culinary journey.
Hilda kept spirits high with a humorous update on social media: “Yes, I can officially confirm this pot is squeaky clean! I rolled up my sleeves and washed it myself. In just a few hours, this same pot will carry thousands of servings of Nigerian Jollof history in the making.”
Originally scheduled for Muri Okunola Park, the venue was moved to Eko Hotels to accommodate the large crowd expected. Over 20,000 people are supporting her and her team, highlighting the scale of support behind the record-breaking bid.
