Veteran Ghanaian actor Fred Amugi has disclosed that the highest amount he has ever received for his work in the film industry is just GH₵25,000.

He made this revelation during an exclusive interview with Ghana  Weekend‘s Sally Quaicoe, during the premiere of the movie ‘Clout’ over  the weekend at the Silverbird cinema.

Amugi, who has been a household name for decades, described the figure as his “biggest paycheck,” a statement that highlights the financial struggles many actors face despite their years of dedication to the craft.

Beyond his earnings, the seasoned actor also shared thoughts on the state of the Ghanaian film industry. He cautioned against the culture of selfishness and division among stakeholders, stressing that progress can only be achieved when players work together with a united vision.

“People always want to say ‘me, me, me.’ It doesn’t work. But when we all have one goal, one mission, one vision and we say forward march, we will do a lot of things,” he remarked.

He further urged industry leaders to avoid unhealthy rivalries and unnecessary power struggles, insisting that collective effort is the only way for Ghana’s movie industry to thrive.

The premiere of Clout brought together celebrated actors, filmmakers, and fans, setting the stage for conversations not just about storytelling, but also about the welfare and future of practitioners in the creative space.
