Former President, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has paid glowing tribute to the late Founder of the Kristo Asafo Mission and Kantanka Automobile, Apostle Dr. Kwadwo Safo Kantanka, who passed away on Thursday, September 11, 2025.
In a Facebook post on Tuesday, September 16, 2025, after visiting the bereaved family at their Taifa residence, the former President described the late inventor as “industrious, innovative, and generous.”
His visit was made alongside the Minority Leader and MP for Effutu, Alexander Kwamena Afenyo-Markin, former Chief of Staff, Akosua Frema Osei-Opare, and other former appointees of his administration.
Sharing fond memories of his encounters with the late Apostle, Akufo-Addo revealed that his first engagement with him was on a professional level when he became his legal representative. Over time, he said, their relationship blossomed into a personal friendship.
“The support of his Kristo Asafo Mission for me personally, and for the New Patriotic Party, remains invaluable and cannot be forgotten,” Akufo-Addo wrote. He praised Apostle Safo’s rare ability to combine religious leadership with scientific and technological innovation, likening his efforts to Leonardo da Vinci’s association with the Catholic Church.
The former President also extended his condolences to the Apostle’s daughter, former Minister for Gender and Social Protection, Sarah Adwoa Safo, his other children, and the entire family.
“May he find rest in the bosom of the Almighty until the Last Day of the Resurrection, when we shall all meet again,” Akufo-Addo concluded.
The passing of Apostle Safo was officially announced on Sunday, September 14, 2025, in a statement released by the Safo family and the Kristo Asafo Church. The statement described him as “a beloved man of God, the greatest technological icon, philanthropist, agriculturalist, and industrialist.”
