Ghanaian YouTuber and vlogger Wode Maya has added a new title to his name—“His Excellency.”

The popular content creator couldn’t hide his excitement and humour after being honoured with a diplomatic passport by Ghana’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

In a post on Instagram sighted by Ghana Weekend on Wednesday September 17, Wode Maya described the recognition as a dream come true, reflecting on how far he has come in his journey of showcasing Ghana and Africa to the world.

“We’ve been on this incredible journey showcasing Ghana and the African continent to the world, and never in my wildest dreams did I think a proud village boy like me would be holding a diplomatic passport. I’m truly humbled and deeply grateful to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Ghana,” he wrote.

He then lightened the moment with a playful message to his fans: “From today, don’t just call me Maya—call me His Excellency. If you see me at the airport, please—no more ‘bro, bro’… it’s now ‘Your Excellency, Maya’,” he teased, accompanied by laughter emojis.

Wode Maya was among five distinguished Ghanaians—including Dentaa Amoateng, Grammy-nominated musician Rocky Dawuni, broadcaster Anita Erskine, and artist Ibrahim Mahama—who received diplomatic passports during the official media launch of the 2025 Diaspora Summit in Accra.

The honour recognises their contributions in promoting Ghana and Africa globally and also appoints them as ambassadors for the upcoming Diaspora Summit, scheduled for December 19 and 20.
