Diddy’s bid for new trial denied as Cassie’s harrowing letter weighs on sentencing

Sean “Diddy” Combs’ hopes of overturning his conviction have been dashed after a federal judge rejected motions for acquittal and a new trial, clearing the path for his upcoming sentencing.

The ruling comes as his former partner, singer Casandra “Cassie” Ventura, submitted a deeply personal letter to the court, detailing her fears and ongoing trauma.

In her statement, Cassie described living with “nightmares and lasting scars” from her relationship with the music mogul, stressing that she has relocated from New York out of fear for her safety.

“I worry about what will happen if he is ever allowed to walk free,” she wrote, urging the judge to weigh the long-term impact on victims when deciding the sentence.

The letter is part of a series of victim impact submissions prosecutors say illustrate Combs’ “pattern of abuse and intimidation.” Federal prosecutors are pushing for a sentence exceeding 11 years, citing the severity of the case and the influence Combs wielded during his career.

The defense, however, argued for leniency, maintaining that Combs’ philanthropic contributions and responsibilities as a father should be considered. His legal team has not publicly responded to Cassie’s letter.

Combs, once one of the most powerful figures in the music industry, now faces the prospect of a lengthy prison term. The court’s denial of his motions signals that the evidence against him will stand, making Cassie’s testimony a significant moral weight in the days leading up to sentencing.
