No injunction on Daddy Lumba’s funeral – PRO clarifies

Mabel Antwi, popularly known as Ewurakua, Public Relations Officer for the late highlife legend Charles Kojo Fosu, popularly known as Daddy Lumba, has dismissed reports that the musician’s direct family has secured an injunction to halt his upcoming funeral.

This follows reports that Daddy Lumba’s first and legal wife, Mrs. Akosua Serwah Fosu, and her children had taken legal action to stop the announced funeral.

According to a statement issued by the family and sighted by Ghana Weekend on Thursday, 9th October, Mrs. Fosu described the public announcement of the funeral as “deeply distressing,” claiming that the family only learned about it through social media.

The statement alleged that Abusuapanyin Kofi Wusu and a supposed funeral committee had acted independently by setting the December 6 date without consulting the late musician’s immediate family. It also accused the committee of showing “a complete lack of respect” to Mrs. Fosu, who is still mourning and preparing to travel to Ghana for the funeral.

The family further alleged that since Daddy Lumba’s passing on July 26, 2025, there had been “a continuous and deliberate effort to marginalise” his legal wife from funeral discussions.

However, Ewurakua’s clarification suggests that the scheduled funeral plans remain intact unless an official court directive indicates otherwise.

Speaking in an interview with Ghana Weekend on Thursday October 9, Mabel Antwi, clarified that no such injunction has been filed and that funeral plans for December 6, 2025, remain unchanged.

“I am not aware of any injunction, and as far as I know, there has been no change in the funeral arrangements,” she stated.
