Ghanaian gospel artiste Empress Gifty has dedicated her seven awards won this year to President John Dramani Mahama, describing him as a father figure and source of inspiration throughout her career.

The award-winning musician accompanied by her husband Mr. Hopeson Adorye and manager Edem Mensah-Tsotorme paid a courtesy call on the president at the Jubilee House on Thursday, October 9, 2025 to express her appreciation and share updates on her recent achievements.

In her remarks, Empress Gifty said the visit was to personally congratulate President Mahama and to thank him for his continuous guidance and encouragement over the years.

She noted that his support has played a vital role in shaping her career and promised to continue striving for greater success as she prepares to release new music.

While dedicating her awards to the president, Empress Gifty also appealed to him to prioritise the construction of a large-capacity auditorium for the creative arts industry.

She proposed a 10,000 to 30,000-seater facility, explaining that such an investment would not only boost local events but also make Ghana a preferred destination for international entertainment and cultural shows.

She further urged the president to ensure that the creative arts sector receives a substantial budgetary allocation to promote talent development and industry growth.

President Mahama, in response, expressed his pride in Empress Gifty’s achievements and commended her consistency and dedication. He referred to her affectionately as “my daughter” and encouraged her to continue working hard and representing Ghana positively on the global stage.

Touching on her request, the president revealed that plans for a national convention centre with large seating capacity are currently under review. He mentioned that designs and proposals have been received and are being considered pending funding approval.

President Mahama reaffirmed his commitment to the growth of the creative arts industry, assuring that his administration will continue to provide budgetary and infrastructural support to ensure the sector thrives.
