‘I won’t be a hype man for any artiste except Stonebwoy’ — OgeeTheMC

Ghanaian event MC and hype man, OgeeTheMC, who serves as the official hype man for dancehall star Stonebwoy, has opened up about whether he would ever consider working with another artiste such as Shatta Wale.

Speaking in an interview with Kwame Dadzie on Hitz FM on October 15, Ogee made it clear that while he’s open to hosting general events or festivals that feature multiple artistes, he wouldn’t take up a permanent role as a hype man for any artiste other than Stonebwoy.

“If it’s a show on its own — like a festival or a concert — I can be part of the MCs. But if it’s for an artiste, I can’t do it because I’m already working with one,” he explained.

When asked if his contract with Stonebwoy prevents him from hyping other artistes, Ogee clarified that it’s more about respect and loyalty than a written restriction.

“The person I work with doesn’t really mind. He can even tell me to go do it for someone. But I’ll definitely need to inform him first. I can’t just wake up and go on stage with another artiste without letting him know — that would be disrespectful,” he added.

OgeeTheMC has been part of Stonebwoy’s live performances for years, hyping the crowd and energising audiences at major concerts both in Ghana and abroad. His remarks highlight the deep sense of professionalism and loyalty that often exists between artistes and their performance teams in Ghana’s entertainment industry.
