The University of Ghana has celebrated its 2025 Wear UG Day, an annual event that promotes unity, pride, and reflection within the university community.
Speaking at the event on Wednesday October 15, the Registrar of the University, Mrs. Juliana Adjei Mensah, explained that Wear UG Day was introduced in 2023 as part of the university’s 75th-anniversary celebration.
She noted that the event has since become a symbolic occasion for staff and students to reflect on the university’s achievements and reaffirm its commitment to growth and excellence.
“Wear UG Day is a day when we sit back and reflect on the University of Ghana — what our achievements have been, what we aspire to do, and how we can make an even greater impact on society,” she said.
Mrs. Mensah added that the day also offers staff and faculty the opportunity to relax, interact, and strengthen bonds outside the regular work environment.
“It’s also a day for us to let loose with our friends and colleagues, get out of the office, and interact a little,” she said.
According to her, the initiative aligns with the university’s third strategic priority under its 2024–2029 strategic plan, which focuses on staff welfare and engagement.
“We are not just interested in what our staff give to the university but also in their well-being and extracurricular activities,” she emphasized.
Mrs. Mensah described this year’s celebration as “marvellous,” commending the enthusiasm and participation of both staff and students.
