Ghana Navy commiserates with the family of Petty Officer Anyimadu

The Ghana Navy commiserates with Petty Officer Class One (PO1) Anyimadu Paul, who was laid to rest his wife and three children on Friday, 17 October 2025, at Sekondi.

The tragic incident occurred in the early hours of Monday, 25 August 2025, when a gas explosion at their residence in the Volta Region claimed the lives of the four family members, leaving behind immense grief and sorrow.

The solemn burial ceremony drew a large turnout from the Ghana Navy, family members, colleagues, and friends, who gathered to pay their final respects. Emotional tributes described the deceased as kind-hearted and beloved within their community.

Officers and ratings stood in solemn silence as the coffins of Mrs Anyimadu and the children were laid to rest, marking a heartbreaking conclusion to a tragedy that deeply shook the naval fraternity. Petty Officer Anyimadu serves with the Naval Training Command (NAVTRAC) in Nutekpor.

Present at the ceremony were the Acting Chief of the Naval Staff and Chief Staff Officer at the Naval Headquarters, Commodore Ben Baaba Abdul, Flag Officer Commanding (FOC), Naval Logistics Command, Commodore Eric Osei, FOC Western Naval Command, Commodore Samuel Ayelazono, FOC Naval Training Command, Commodore James Adongo Agambire, Deputy Chief Staff Officer (DCSO) Naval Policy and Plans, Commodore Roger Begonia; Flag Officer Fleet, Naval Captain John Bekuin-Wurapa, DCSO Administration, Naval Captain Isaac Ziem Aratuo, senior officers, Master Coxswain of the Ghana Navy, MCPO Lawrence Ayelvae, ratings, Defence Civilian Staff, and Mrs Gifty Bessing, wife of the Chief of the Naval Staff.
