Renowned Ghanaian gospel musician and preacher, Sonnie Badu, has showered praises on dancehall star Shatta Wale following the overwhelming success of the Shatta Fest concert, held on Saturday October 18 at the Independence Square in Accra.
The event, organised to mark Shatta Wale’s birthday, witnessed a historic turnout, with reports suggesting that over 100,000 fans thronged the venue. The Independence Square was packed to capacity as fans from across the country came together to celebrate one of Ghana’s biggest music icons.
In a post shared on his Instagram page on Monday October 20, Badu described the concert’s massive attendance as “unprecedented,” drawing a powerful comparison to Ghana’s first Independence Day celebration led by Dr. Kwame Nkrumah.
“It’s never happened in the history of Ghana, not even on the day of our independence with Dr. Kwame Nkrumah. This is huge,” Badu wrote.
He further praised Shatta Wale’s unique bond with his fans, stating that the musician’s connection with the streets remains unmatched.
The Shatta Fest concert was a star-studded event, featuring electrifying performances from Sarkodie, King Promise, Wendy Shay, and several other top Ghanaian acts who joined Shatta Wale to thrill fans deep into the night.
The massive success of the event has since sparked widespread admiration and discussion on social media, with many hailing Shatta Wale for his ability to command such a monumental crowd and reaffirming his place as one of Ghana’s most influential entertainers.
