‘Beauty can open doors, but keep your morals’ – Wendy Shay’s advises women

Ghanaian musician Wendy Shay has once again sparked conversation with her remarks about being a woman in the entertainment industry.

In an interview with Headless YouTuber on Monday October 20, the “Survivor” hitmaker was asked if men still approach her with offers that come with ulterior motives, despite her success and established brand.

Responding without hesitation, Wendy said such experiences are “very normal” for women.

“Of course. Once you’re a woman and there is a hole in between your legs, you’re going to get that. It’s very normal. It doesn’t stop,” she said.

She explained that the attraction between men and women is a natural dynamic that often finds its way into professional spaces, including the music industry.

“The attraction between a male and a female is always there. So as a woman, you just need to know what lies ahead of you. It’s a struggle, but you just have to face it,” she added.

When asked how she handles such situations, Wendy Shay emphasised the importance of self-awareness, principles, and values.

“As a woman, you should just know who you are and your values. If you know you’re beautiful, you should know you’re beautiful — beauty can open doors for you. Make use of it, but make sure you still hold your morals. You should have a set of principles that you walk by and make sure you don’t break it, no matter the circumstance,” she advised.

Wendy Shay, who serves as a brand ambassador for several top companies and continues to thrive in the Ghanaian music industry, is known for her outspoken personality and advocacy for women’s empowerment. Her comments once again highlight the persistent gender-based challenges faced by women in show business — and the resilience required to navigate them.
