‘I’m not ready for Daddy Lumba’s funeral in December’ – Sister

Ernestina Fosu, elder sister of late highlife legend Daddy Lumba, says she is not ready for his final funeral rites, despite a Kumasi High Court ruling that cleared the way for the event to proceed on December 6, 2025.

Speaking to the media after the court’s decision on Tuesday, October 28, Fosu said she remains unprepared to take part in the arrangements, even though the court dismissed an injunction that she and Akosua Serwaa, the musician’s first wife, had filed to halt the ceremony.

“I have nothing to say; everything is in God’s hands,” she said calmly. “There is no one who loves misunderstanding or fight.”

When asked further about preparations for the funeral, she added: “I’m not ready. That 6th December that has been set for the funeral of my brother, I’m not ready.”

Her comments came shortly after Justice Dorinda Smith Arthur dismissed the interlocutory injunction application, ruling that under Ghanaian customary law, the authority over a deceased person’s remains rests with the family.

The court held that preventing the family from organising the funeral would not be in the interest of the family or the public.

Following the ruling, the family of the late musician, known privately as Charles Kwadwo Fosu, announced that preparations will continue for the final funeral rites at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi on the scheduled date.

However, Madam Fosu’s reaction suggests that disagreements within the family** may still linger, potentially casting a shadow over the funeral arrangements.
