The annual Hogbetsotso Festival of the Anlo people is currently underway in Anloga in the Volta Region, drawing thousands of celebrants, dignitaries, and cultural enthusiasts.
This year’s grand durbar will be graced by several high-profile personalities, including President John Dramani Mahama, Vice President Professor Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang, and the Minister for Tourism, Arts and Culture, Dzifa Abla Gomashie. The event will be hosted under the distinguished leadership of Torgbui Sri III, the Awoamefia of Anlo.
The theme for the 2025 celebration is: “Building Bridges: From Common History to Common Destiny.”
The festival, which is deeply rooted in history, commemorates the Anlo people’s legendary migration and celebrates unity, heritage, and cultural continuity. Activities include traditional drumming and dancing, display of regal kente cloth, war dances, and community gatherings that showcase the richness of Ewe culture.
The grand durbar is taking place at the Higbe Park in Anloga, where chiefs, queen mothers, elders, government officials, and citizens are expected to converge in a colorful cultural display.
