Former General Secretary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), John Boadu, has hinted at the possibility of getting dancehall superstar Shatta Wale to join the party, if the opportunity arises.

Speaking on JoyNews’ PM Express on Tuesday, November 11, the NPP National Chair aspirant said Shatta Wale’s massive influence among the youth could play a key role in helping the party connect better with younger voters.

“If possible, why not? You can get other people out as well,” Mr. Boadu said when asked if he would bring Shatta Wale into the NPP fold.

He explained that the future of the NPP depends on effectively engaging Ghana’s growing youthful population, noting that by 2028, voters aged 18 to 40 will make up nearly 60% of the electorate.

“I know how to deal with these young guys — selling our message and making it soft enough for them. We need to meet them in their space and on their interests,” he added.

When pressed by host Evans Mensah on whether Shatta Wale’s involvement would mean active campaigning, Boadu clarified that it wouldn’t necessarily mean having the artiste on political platforms.

“Not necessarily a hard campaign, but passing through our messages,” he said.

Boadu acknowledged that while the NPP used songs from King Paluta and Shatta Wale during the 2024 campaign, that alone wasn’t enough to secure victory.

“You need to do more — nurture these youthful people, meet them where they are, and make them feel a sense of belonging,” he stressed.

He further warned that the NPP risks losing its grip on key spaces, including academia, if it fails to adapt its strategy.

John Boadu’s remarks have since stirred conversations on social media, with many debating what a Shatta Wale–NPP partnership could look like ahead of the next election.
