Nathaniel Bassey condemns attacks on Christians in Nigeria, demands action

Gospel singer Nathaniel Bassey has condemned the recent unrest in Kwara and Kebbi states, calling for divine judgment on those behind the latest attacks targeting Christians.

His remarks follow a violent incident at Christ Apostolic Church (CAC) in Eruku, Kwara State, where suspected bandits stormed a live-streamed service and attacked worshippers. The Kwara attack adds to growing insecurity in the region, including the recent abduction of 25 students from a girls’ boarding school in Kebbi State.

Reacting on X, Bassey urged Nigerians to pray for courage for the government, armed forces and security agencies to confront what he described as persistent “evil systems and structures.” He said the country had entered a critical moment requiring decisive action.

“I believe with all my heart that this is the time and season for the enemies of this nation to be judged once and for all – terrorists, bandits, kidnappers, and all who fund, sponsor, and support them,” he wrote, warning that missing this moment could cost Nigeria dearly.

Citing Deuteronomy 7, Bassey said Nigeria must confront its enemies to fulfil its “prophetic destiny.” He added that those who refuse to rise to the challenge risk being replaced, echoing Mordecai’s caution to Esther in the Bible.

“Every one or group of persons who have determined that Nigeria will not rest, may their end come now,” he prayed, declaring that peace and prosperity will ultimately prevail. “Nigeria shall prosper and fulfil her prophetic destiny. God bless Nigeria.”

Other celebrities, including Funke Akindele and Falz, have also condemned the recent attacks and urged authorities to take urgent steps to address the escalating insecurity.
