The family of the late highlife legend Charles Kwadwo Fosu (Daddy Lumba) has rejected a widely circulated funeral date of 13 December 2025, describing it as unauthorised and misleading.
In a statement issued on Monday November 24, the direct family condemned Abusuapanyin Kofi Owusu and the dissolved funeral committee for erecting billboards and issuing public notices without approval.
The family says the proposed date was never agreed upon, adding that it is impossible due to:
Ongoing autopsy and investigations in Ghana and Germany
Children abroad preparing for critical examinations
Family members needing adequate notice to apply for leave
The need for international mourners to make travel arrangements
They also accuse Abusuapanyin Kofi Owusu of unlawfully withdrawing GHS 200,000 from a Cal Bank account despite a court directive restricting him from financial activities.
The statement further highlights violations of mediation resolutions that dissolved the old committee and barred unilateral decisions.
Describing the push for a December burial as suspicious, the family insists no funeral date has been approved and urges the public, traditional authorities, and the media to ignore unauthorized announcements.
The family says it remains committed to a dignified funeral and a transparent investigation.
