Ghanaian singer Gyakie represented Ghana at ECOFEST Dakar 2025, the inaugural conference and dialogue between youth and the ECOWAS and WAEMU Commissions, held on December 1, 2025, at the Grand National Theater.

Her presence added a powerful cultural voice to a gathering focused on youth empowerment, peacebuilding, and regional integration.

The event opened with an inaugural conference led by Professor Mamadou Fall, who officially launched the festival’s intellectual activities.

In her address, she highlighted the pivotal role of culture in today’s geopolitical environment and underscored its influence on dialogue, mediation, and peace across West Africa.

One of the major highlights of the day was the youth dialogue session, which brought together young people from across the region with ECOWAS Commissioner Professor Fatou Sow Sarr and WAEMU Commissioner Mamadù Serifo Jaquite. The conversation, centered on the theme “Paths to the Future with Youth for Development, Peace, and Integration,” explored key issues relating to development, regional unity, employability, and civic engagement.

As Ghana’s representative, Gyakie’s participation held special significance, not only because of her rising influence as an artist but also because her music resonates across borders. Her cross-cultural appeal symbolises the hope, creativity, and connectedness that young people embody qualities the conference aimed to harness in building a more integrated and peaceful West Africa.

Her presence reinforced the idea that music and culture are powerful tools for uniting communities and inspiring the next generation. Through her voice and influence, Gyakie served as a reminder that young creatives play a vital role in shaping the region’s future.
