Daddy Lumba’s family denies misinformation about funeral, marriage issues

The family of the late highlife legend Charles Kojo Fosu, popularly known as Daddy Lumba, has issued a strong statement addressing what they describe as ongoing misinformation surrounding his funeral and family affairs.

In a press release dated December 6, the family affirmed Nana Yaw Akosah popularly known as Evangelist Papa Shee, as their official spokesperson, dismissing rumours that he is not a member of the family or lacks authority to speak on their behalf. They described such claims as “false and unfounded.”

The statement also tackled comments made by Abusuapanyin Kofi Owusu on UTV, where he allegedly questioned the authenticity of a German marriage certificate belonging to Mr. Fosu and his wife, Mrs. Akosua Serwah Fosu. The family condemned the remarks as “pathetic, uninformed, and biased,” adding that the certificate is valid and legally recognized.

They further disassociated themselves from a widely circulated funeral poster that reportedly displayed Mrs. Fosu’s name alongside another woman described as a “widow.” According to the family, the poster was released without her consent and does not reflect the family’s stance.

The statement also noted that some names included on the poster were added merely for “cosmetic purposes” and should be disregarded.

While expressing respect for a recent court ruling related to the marriage certificate, the family said they disagree with aspects of the judgment and will seek legal redress to establish the full truth. They reassured the Ghanaian community in Germany that the authenticity of German marriage documents remains intact and will be defended.

The family emphasised their unity and commitment to protecting the dignity of Daddy Lumba’s lawful wife and children and preserving the legacy of the late musician with “dignity, transparency, and truth.”

The release was signed by the direct family of Charles Kwadwo Fosu.
