Ghana’s Minister of Tourism, Arts and Culture, Dzifa Abla Gomashie has shared a nostalgic memory involving award-winning dancehall artiste Shatta Wale, revealing that she once carried the musician on her lap during his childhood.
Speaking in an interview on Joy Prime, the Minister recounted her days working on the famous children’s storytelling programme By the Fireside.
According to her, Shatta Wale, together with his sisters, was brought to the show by their mother many years ago.
“I do not know if Shatta Wale remembers, but I carried him on my lap before. You can ask his mother. He and his sisters were brought to By the Fireside,” she said.
Her recollection highlights the long-standing connection between Ghana’s creative industry and some of today’s biggest stars, offering a warm reminder of how far talents like Shatta Wale and others have come from their early childhood engagements to becoming globally recognised artistes.
