Zaama Disco 2025: Big energy, bigger lessons — My honest review

Zaama Disco 2025 was one of the most talked-about concerts of the year, and the University of Ghana Stadium truly came alive as Black Sherif hosted thousands of fans for his annual music celebration. The night was packed with excitement, star power and unforgettable moments—but it wasn’t without its challenges.

What went wrong

From the start, access into the venue was a major issue. With very limited entrances for ticket checks, both General Access and VIP gates became extremely choked as the show sold out. Many patrons were left standing for long periods just trying to get in.

Ticket zoning also became a problem. Fans who paid for VVIP and VIP tickets eventually found themselves mixed with General Access ticket holders. This took away the special experience expected by those who paid more for premium access.

Another challenge was poor direction. Although tickets were sold out, many patrons were confused about where to redeem tickets, where to go next, and where to sit. This lack of clear guidance left several people stranded and frustrated.

Perhaps the biggest downside was the late start. Though scheduled for 8:00 pm, performances only began close to 11:00 pm. For hours, people stood without music, MC engagement or performances, which drained the early excitement.

What I loved

Once the show finally kicked off, the energy changed completely. Performances from all the artistes were solid, with Black Sherif delivering an especially powerful set. Guest appearances from stars like Sarkodie, KiDi, Larusso, AraTheJay and others kept the crowd alive till dawn.

One standout positive was safety. Unlike many large concerts, there were no reports of harassment or harm, which made the experience more enjoyable. The availability of water and easy-to-access snacks also helped many people endure the long hours.

The night peaked when Black Sherif performed “Top of the Morning”, sending the stadium into a frenzy and closing the show on a high note.

Final thoughts

Despite the long wait and organisational challenges, Zaama Disco 2025 still delivered strong performances and an electric atmosphere. Standing for hours in a packed stadium isn’t ideal, but it’s understandable at an event of this scale.

Overall, it was a good experience with room for improvement.
My rating: 6/10.

Zaama Disco remains a powerful brand, and with better crowd control, clearer directions and timely starts, it can easily become one of Ghana’s best-organised concerts.
