Abubakar Sadick popularly known as Cyborg has been convicted and fined GH¢24,000 for unlawfully discharging a firearm with his firearm licence revoked after he fired warning shots in what he claimed was an act of honour toward Nigerian Afrobeats star Asake.

The incident occurred shortly after Asake’s performance at the AfroFuture Festival in Accra. According to reports, the artiste later visited the man at Accra Newtown, where the celebratory gunshots were fired. The action quickly drew public concern and prompted police intervention.

During court proceedings, it was established that the discharge of the firearm was unlawful and posed a serious risk to public safety. The court consequently imposed the fine and ordered the immediate revocation of the man’s firearm licence, emphasising that celebratory gunfire remains illegal regardless of intent or circumstance.

The ruling has reignited conversations around gun safety and the enforcement of firearms regulations in Ghana, particularly during festive and high-profile entertainment events. Authorities have reiterated their commitment to enforcing the law and cautioned the public against engaging in dangerous celebratory practices.

The case serves as a reminder that admiration for celebrities or public figures must be expressed within the bounds of the law, with public safety remaining paramount.
