Organisers of the AfroFuture Festival have dismissed reports circulating online alleging that a firearm was discharged on the festival grounds describing the claims as false and misleading.
In an official statement, AfroFuture clarified that no such incident occurred at any point during the festival and that there was no security intervention or disruption linked to the alleged discharge of a firearm.
“AfroFuture is aware of misinformation circulating online regarding the alleged discharge of a firearm at AfroFuture Festival. We want to state clearly and unequivocally that this incident did not occur at AfroFuture,” the statement said.
The festival organisers highlighted that AfroFuture operates under comprehensive safety protocols, including the deployment of professional security teams, coordinated emergency response planning, and close collaboration with relevant local authorities. According to the organisers, these measures are designed to ensure the safety and well-being of all attendees, artists, staff, and families.
“The safety and well-being of our guests, artistes, staff, and families is our highest priority, and we take that responsibility extremely seriously,” the statement added, while commending the professionalism of the operations and security teams for delivering a successful and secure event.
AfroFuture further noted that it has formally communicated with the Ghana Police Service to clarify that the alleged incident did not take place at the festival. The organisers also expressed concern about the speed at which misinformation can spread online and the potential impact it can have on public perception.
Reassuring patrons and the wider public, AfroFuture reiterated its commitment to maintaining a safe, family-friendly environment that celebrates culture, creativity, and joy.
“AfroFuture remains a safe, family-friendly space rooted in celebration, culture, and joy,” the statement concluded.
