Prophet Fire Oja denies arrest, describes claims as fake news

Head Pastor of Zion Prayer Ministries International, Prophet Fire Oja, has dismissed reports circulating on social media that he has been arrested by the Ghana Police Service.

In a post shared on his official Facebook page on January 6, 2026, the outspoken cleric refuted the claims, insisting he is free and at home. He described the reports of his alleged arrest as false and misleading.

“Still chillin’ at home yesterday and today, vibin’ life, and ppl are runnin’ wild with fake news, sayin’ I’m in cells. I have never been arrested,” the post read.

Despite his denial, the post has sparked mixed reactions online. While some followers accepted his explanation, others questioned the authenticity of the message, suggesting it may have been issued by a handler rather than the pastor himself. A section of social media users has also challenged Prophet Fire Oja to go live on video to conclusively put the rumours to rest.

The arrest claims stem from allegations that the Ghana Police Service picked up the pastor on January 5, 2026, in connection with controversial statements he allegedly made about musician Mzbel. Prophet Fire Oja had reportedly claimed that the singer had been ill, hospitalised in Kasoa, and had engaged in what he described as “soul travel” following her recovery.

Mzbel, reacting to the claims in an earlier Instagram post, stated that she had reported the matter to the Ghana Police Service, adding that the pastor had been arrested over the issue.

As of now, the Ghana Police Service has not issued an official statement confirming or denying the alleged arrest, leaving the matter largely in the realm of public speculation.
