In the bustling streets of Accra, one taxi driver is redefining what it means to ride in style. Wisdom Amehame, known as the “Executive Taxi Driver,” is turning heads with his unique approach to passenger care.
In an exclusive interview with this reporter, Wisdom revealed that his taxi is stocked with free sweets, snacks, bottled water, drinks, fans, tissue paper, a mini library of books, hand sanitiser, free Wi-Fi, and even a direct landline for passengers.
“Everything here is free for the passengers,” Wisdom said with a smile. “I just wanted to add value to the taxi business and make people enjoy their ride.”
The driver, originally from Anloga in the Vota Region, has been running his taxi service long before the rise of ride-hailing apps in Ghana. Despite providing these at his own cost, he says it does not affect his earnings. “I don’t run at a loss. I just want everyone to love my service,” he explained.
Passengers are often surprised when they experience his thoughtful service. “The moment they enter the car, they start asking questions,” Wisdom said. “It’s something they haven’t seen before.”
A married father of four, Wisdom also credits his formal marketing training for his innovative approach. “Every business requires neatness, good communication, and thinking outside the box,” he said. “That’s what I’m applying to my taxi service.”
Though he doesn’t own the car he drives, Wisdom hopes to get his own air-conditioned vehicle in the future to further enhance passenger comfort. For now, his dedication and creativity continue to earn admiration from commuters across Accra.
