Ghanaian-American singer Amaarae has revealed how her attempts to collaborate with dancehall star Shatta Wale fell through despite persistent efforts.
In an interview on Sincerely Accra Podcast monitored by Ghana Weekend on Tuesday January 20, Amaarae explained that she had sent Shatta Wale over 50 direct messages before finally receiving a response.
“I DMed Shatta Wale like 50 times, and he only replied to my DM a few days ago” she said.
The singer had hoped to record a new track together while she was in Ghana, eager to see what a collaboration between Shatta Wale and Amaarae could produce.
However, the delayed response meant that the timing didn’t align, and the record ultimately did not happen.
