Infidelity happens even with close friends — Kwabena Kwabena

Acclaimed Ghanaian musician Kwabena Kwabena has stated that infidelity involving close family members and friends is a common reality, noting that some men engage in affairs with their wives’ best friends and relatives.

The highlife singer made this assertion during an interview with Kwame Dadzie and Doreen Avio on Daybreak Hitz on Hitz FM on Tuesday January 27, while explaining the message behind his song “Aso.”

According to Kwabena Kwabena, the storyline of Aso reflects real-life situations that occur frequently in marriages and relationships, making the song highly relatable.

“There are guys who are chopping their wives’ best friends and their wives’ close relations. These things are happening,” he said.

He explained that although the song is told from a male perspective, the issues it highlights are not limited to men alone.

“It swings both ways. I’m telling the Aso story from a man’s perspective because I’m a man, but it’s something that is happening on both sides,” he noted.

Kwabena Kwabena added that he chose to revisit the theme because it mirrors what many people witness or experience in their everyday lives, stressing that such behaviours create deep emotional harm and should be discouraged.

His comments have reignited discussions on fidelity, trust, and boundaries within marriages, reinforcing the relevance of Aso years after its release.
