Host of Usaywetin on HitzFM, Shine Acquah, has alleged that President John Dramani Mahama was not aware of the recently launched Fugu Wednesday initiative.
Speaking on Hitz FM on Tuesday, February 17, Shine Acquah disclosed that President Mahama only learned about the initiative while attending a public event.
“Guess what? This Fugu Wednesday thing that has been launched…until he [President Mahama] came to stand there, until he saw some people wearing Fugu, he didn’t know that there was anything called Fugu Wednesday. President Mahama didn’t know.”
He further pointed out that the initiative had been signed off by the minister in charge of Creative Arts, Abla Dzifa Gomashie, without the president’s prior knowledge.
“The minister signed this particular initiative on behalf of the president, not knowing the president wasn’t aware of it,” Acquah added.
Fugu Wednesday, aimed at promoting the traditional Ghanaian fugu fabric, has generated significant attention, but Shine Acquah’s disclosure raises questions about how the initiative was coordinated at the highest levels of government.
