Media entrepreneur Bola Ray in partnership with the Swiss Ambassador to Ghana Simone Giger has spearheaded a critical conversation on copyright protection and creativity in Ghana.
The conversation held on Friday February 27, 2026 at the Swiss Ambassador’s residence in Accra brought together key stakeholders within the music and creative ecosystem under the theme “Protecting What You Create: Copyrights and Creativity in Ghana.

The dialogue focused on building sustainable structures to safeguard intellectual property and strengthen the industry.
The high-level panel featured award-winning musician M.anifest, President of the Musicians Union of Ghana (MUSIGA), Bessa Simons; MUSIGA Second Deputy Vice President Abena Ruthy and intellectual property practitioner and lecturer Ekow Sessah Acquaye.
The event attracted a significant turnout from Ghana’s creative community and media personalities with notable attendees including artistes such as Gyakie, Wendy Shay, Rocky Dawuni, alongside numerous other high-profile figures.

Discussions centred on equipping creatives with the right legal knowledge industry frameworks, and leverage to protect their works.
Speakers emphasised stronger copyright enforcement, proper registration of creative content, transparent royalty structures, and the need to create an enabling environment that guarantees long-term growth and sustainability for Ghana’s music industry.
The initiative signals a growing collaboration between industry leaders and diplomatic partners aimed at protecting Ghanaian creativity and maximising the economic value of intellectual property.
