Instagram content creator Zeal Nana-Kweku Bliss has disclosed that a town in the Volta Region could soon be renamed after award-winning dancehall musician Stonebwoy.
Speaking on Daybreak Hitz on Hitz FM on Monday, March 9, Zeal disclosed that residents have proposed naming a part of their town “Stonebwoy City” in honour of the musician.
According to him, the community has already allocated a plot of land to Stonebwoy, and once he develops the land, that portion of the area will officially bear his name.
“There’s a town that is yet to be named, or the people have decided to name it after Stonebwoy,” Zeal explained. “They are calling it ‘Stonebwoy City.’ What he has to do is build on the land that has been given to him, and then that place becomes Stonebwoy City.”
Zeal shared that the proposal came up during a visit by Stonebwoy to the area when he went to the region for his Torcher Experience.
He noted that the musician received an overwhelming reception throughout the visit. At one of the technical universities they visited, students had already gathered outside, singing and dancing to Stonebwoy’s songs before his arrival.
“There was even a mini traditional drum display right in front of the entrance of the radio station,” Zeal said. “You could tell that the people were ready and that this was something they had been looking forward to for a long time.”
The excitement continued even after Stonebwoy finished his media interview, with crowds still gathered and celebrating his presence.
Stonebwoy and his team also paid a courtesy call on a local chief, where traditional rites were performed — an engagement that further highlighted the strong support he enjoys in the region.
Zeal described the musician’s weekend tour of the Volta Region as an exceptional experience, noting that the reception from residents reflected the deep connection between Stonebwoy and his fans in the area.
