Controversial marriage counsellor Cyril George Lutterodt, popularly known as Counsellor Lutterodt, is expected to appear in court today [Wednesday, March 11] following his arrest over alleged comments said to have incited public unrest.
The arrest stems from remarks he allegedly made over the weekend during a programme discussing legendary Ghanaian highlife musician Daddy Lumba.
During the discussion, Counsellor Lutterodt reportedly called on Ga youth to go to the musician’s residence in East Legon with pickaxes to verify claims circulating online that Daddy Lumba had secretly been buried in his own house.
Counsellor Lutterodt allegedly urged listeners to move to the residence and dig to confirm the rumour.
Authorities indicated that the remarks could amount to offensive conduct likely to breach the Criminal Offences Act, 1960 (Act 29).
Following the broadcast, the Ghana Police Service arrested the outspoken counsellor and detained him at the Nima Police Station.
He was later granted bail while investigations into the matter continue.
Daddy Lumba’s family head has subsequently been invited by the Ga-Dangme traditional council in connection with Counsellor Lutterodt’s allegation.
