AratheJay demands answers over ‘The Odyssey’ TGMA snub

The management and communications team of new-age artiste and sensation AratheJay has formally written to the Board and Academy of the Telecel Ghana Music Awards (TGMA) requesting clarification on the omission of three submissions from the 27th edition shortlists unveiled on Saturday, March 14, 2026.

The letter, directed to Charterhouse Ghana, the organiser of the TGMA, identifies specific inconsistencies between the documented performance of AratheJay’s debut album “The Odyssey” and the scheme’s published award definitions.

The team therefore requested a formal explanation for three omissions: “The Odyssey” from “Album/EP of the Year”; “Put Am on God” from “Best Rap Performance”; and “Cover Me” from “Best Male Vocal Performance.”

All three categories were the subject of formal submissions made through the TGMA’s own nominations process.

AratheJay, however, received three nominations in the 27th TGMA edition, for which his team expressed gratitude: “Best Music Video” for “Put Am on God” (directed by David Duncan); “Best Reggae/Dancehall Song” for “Talisman” featuring Stonebwoy; and “Best Hiplife Song” as a featured artiste on Ko-Jo Cue’s “Tontonte.”

The clarification request concerns only those categories in which submissions were madeand ford which the team believes the project meets the published eligibility and excellence criteria.

“We are proud of what AratheJay built, particularly with The Odyssey in 2025. The numbers are not ours, but they belong to the public platforms that publish them independently.

“The criteria are not ours but the TGMA’s and are available on their own website. We are simply asking the Board to explain how both sets of information were reconciled in arriving at the nominations list. We do not make this appeal from a place of entitlement, but we believe it is a reasonable ask. We believe transparency serves the entire industry,” said Almighty Records, management for AratheJay.
