The campus of Swedru Senior High School on Friday, March 20, was awash with colour, excitement and deep nostalgia as its 67th anniversary celebrations unfolded spectacularly, bringing together generations of old students for a truly unforgettable homecoming.

Friday’s opening set the tone with an atmosphere charged with pride and anticipation.

Alumni streamed onto campus in groups, reuniting with old friends through warm embraces, laughter and shared memories that instantly bridged the years apart.

The day began with the “How I Got There” session from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm, where past students inspired the current generation with stories of resilience, growth and success.

This was followed by year group check-ins and roll calls, sparking friendly rivalries and bonding moments, while the gari soaking competition added a nostalgic, light-hearted touch.

The excitement reached its peak when alumni organised a convoy from West Hills Mall to the school.

The long line of vehicles, blaring horns and proudly displaying school colours, turned the journey into a moving celebration.

Their arrival on campus was electric, met with cheers, chants and visible admiration from students and staff.

Activities continued with a disciplined cadet corps ceremony in the afternoon before transitioning into a solemn yet beautiful candlelight procession at dusk.

As candles flickered across the campus, the moment created a powerful sense of reflection and unity among participants.

The night wrapped up with a vibrant welcome cocktail and meet-and-greet session at the school’s forecourt.

With live music performances and a relaxed atmosphere, alumni reconnected, forged new networks and danced the night away, making memories that will linger long after the celebrations.

Saturday, March 21, elevated the excitement even further with a full day of engaging activities.

The speech and prize-giving ceremony, held from 8:00 am to 1:30 pm, celebrated academic excellence and honoured outstanding students, reinforcing the school’s long-standing tradition of achievement.

Later in the day, alumni gathered once again for an all-year group lunch from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm, sharing meals, stories and laughter in a heartwarming display of unity.

The sense of belonging was unmistakable as different generations bonded over their shared identity as Piesies.

As night fell, the much-anticipated alumni dance party brought the celebrations to a thrilling climax.

Music, dance and high energy took over the campus as old students relived their youthful days, creating a lively and unforgettable atmosphere that perfectly captured the spirit of SWESCO.

From inspiring conversations to joyful reunions and vibrant celebrations, the first two days of the anniversary proved that SWESCO is not just a school but a lifelong family bound by pride, resilience and shared history.
