Comedian Lekzythecomic has opened up about a tense backstage encounter with a politician following one of his performances, revealing how the situation was quickly diffused.
Speaking in an interview on Hitz FM on Thursday, March 26, the comedian recounted that the incident happened earlier in his career after he mimicked the voice of a politician during his set.
According to him, the politician managed to get backstage and was waiting for him immediately after his performance.
“At that time, I was very small, so I just said sorry and left,” he said, explaining that he chose to apologise rather than escalate the situation.
Lekzythecomic noted that his manager at the time quickly stepped in to handle the situation, offering further apologies to calm tensions.
“My manager was like, ‘Oh sorry sir, please… we apologise,” he recalled, adding that it was the best way to manage the moment.
Reflecting on the experience, the comedian pointed out that, contrary to public perception, many of the individuals comedians joke about are often not the ones who react negatively.
“Funny enough, those we make jokes about don’t get angry. It is the follow-backs, maybe a foot soldier who wants to impress his master,” he explained.
He added that in some instances, public figures have even appreciated jokes made about them and shared feedback with comedians.
The experience, he suggested, highlights the unpredictable nature of political satire and the importance of knowing when to push boundaries and when to step back.
