Deputy CEO of the Ghana Tourism Authority, Abeiku Aggrey Santana, has stirred conversation online following comments about gender roles and money.
Speaking in an interview with Hitz FM on Tuesday, March 31, Santana suggested that men are naturally meant to work and endure hardship, while women are meant to enjoy the rewards.
Referencing the Bible, he said, “If you read Genesis Chapter One, you see, after man disobeyed God, their punishment was that man would suffer… All men suffer, women enjoy. Period.”
He continued by arguing that men derive satisfaction from providing for women, adding that money, in his view, is essentially meant to be spent on women.
“Money was created for women. Men work for the money… Women to enjoy it,” he stated.
Santana further questioned whether men would feel fulfilled if the women in their lives were not benefiting from their hard work.
“When you get your money and the woman is not shopping, how do you feel? You have your peace of mind,” he added.
