The Telecel Ghana Music Awards (TGMA) have announced the return of the Best Group category for the 27th edition of the prestigious awards scheme.
The reinstatement comes after the initial nominees’ announcement, which notably excluded the category, an omission that sparked concern among industry players.
Several artistes reportedly reached out to the organisers seeking clarification on the absence of the Best Group category, which had not featured in the awards lineup for some time.
In response, the organisers took to their official Instagram page to confirm the restoration of the category, addressing concerns raised by stakeholders within the music industry.
The nominees for the reinstated Best Group category this year include Lali x Lola, Keche, Soul Winners, and Bethel Revival Choir.
The move has been widely welcomed by fans and industry observers, who see it as a step toward recognising the contributions of music groups to Ghana’s vibrant music scene.
