Renowned Kumawood actor Akrobeto, known in private life as Akwasi Boadi, has opened up about a difficult but life-changing decision he made regarding one of his sons’ education.
In a video sighted on X by GhanaWeekend on April 13, the actor disclosed that his third son struggled academically despite being supported through senior high school.
According to him, the young man remained determined to pursue a university education, largely influenced by his siblings, one studying at the university and another living abroad.
“My third-born wanted to attend university. I tried everything to put him through school, but he wasn’t academically gifted enough. He wrote three different remedial exams and still didn’t pass,” he recounted.
Despite his son’s persistence, Akrobeto said he had to make the tough decision to redirect his path after seeking guidance from the late Kwadwo Safo Kantanka.
“I took him to Apostle Kantanka, and he advised my son to choose something else aside from formal education,” he explained.
Following that advice, his son opted to learn phone repairs. The actor enrolled him in an apprenticeship at China House in Kumasi and supported him financially in the early stages.
“I used to send him GH₵100 every week. Can you imagine that after eight months, he told me to stop sending him money? He had mastered phone repairs and was capable of fixing any phone,” he said proudly.
Ghanaian actor, comedian, and TV presenter Akrobeto has shared a personal story about his son, who was not academically gifted and struggled in school. He revealed that his son wrote remedial exams three times but was unable to gain admission into university.
