Dancehall star Stonebwoy has described his collaboration with legendary Beninese singer Angélique Kidjo as a dream come true.
Speaking in an interview with Kafui Dey, the award-winning artiste opened up about how the collaboration on ‘Manodzi’ came together.
According to Stonebwoy, the process was surprisingly seamless.
He disclosed that he sent the song to the Grammy-winning icon without knowing what to expect.
“About two weeks after I sent ‘Manodzi’ to her, she got back and said she loved it,” he shared.
The quick and positive response from Angélique Kidjo set the stage for what has become a standout collaboration, blending Stonebwoy’s Afro-dancehall sound with Kidjo’s rich, globally celebrated African music style.
For Stonebwoy, the opportunity to work with such a revered figure goes beyond music.
The collaboration on ‘Manodzi’ also highlights the power of African musical unity, bringing together two generations and styles to create a sound that resonates far beyond the continent.
